Temporary Collecting Hiatus in Effect until further notice

The Jewish Public Library has suspended its general book donation program until further notice. We sincerely thank all community members who have generously contributed materials over the years — your support has helped enrich our collections and preserve Jewish culture and history.

Steps You Can Take

While we are unable to accept most book donations at this time, you may wish to consider the following local organizations and resources that may accept books in good condition:

Atwater Library and Computer Centre – Atwater Library Website
Westmount Public Library – Westmount Library Website
Renaissance – Renaissance Donation Centres

These organizations often accept gently used books for resale or redistribution within the community.

About Book Donations

The Jewish Public Library is no longer accepting donations of general reading materials such as contemporary books, magazines, textbooks, or encyclopedias.

However, we continue to consider donations of rare or historically significant materials, particularly those:

  • Published before the 20th century
  • Related to Jewish history, literature, or culture
  • Of potential interest to our Archives or Rare Book Collection

If you believe your materials may qualify, please contact us before bringing them in.
