We collect original, primary sources (photographs, journals, correspondence) that depict the social and cultural history of the Jewish communities of Montreal.

When you deposit materials with Archives staff and sign a receipt of transfer or donor agreement, it ensures that a donation is properly tracked and a reference archivist will be able to locate your donation and provide you with a link or set up a reference appointment with you. We understand that these steps have not always been followed. In these cases, please be prepared to provide as much detail as possible so that we can assist you fully.
You must receive written permission by the Archives to reproduce archival contents in your own projects. Projects must be for research purposes, and not for commercial use. Our legal obligation to donors requires that users request permission before use. This step ensures that users receive accurate metadata and clear instructions on crediting materials.
Conducting research online and on-site is completely free to all researchers. There is a nominal fee for the usage of each archival item in your own project. These fees contribute to sustaining the Archives.
